Basler è arrivato in Sicilia, sul vulcano spento che continua a muoversi con i terremoti.
Filicudi e Stromboli, una grande immensa massa di energia che contamina ogni cosa, ha lavorato sodo per oltre 20 anni, in un posto magico, in una terra di conservatori che continuano ad essere soggiogati dal trascendentale e dal mito, sono mediterranei e si affidano al fato, non sono materialisti e nemmeno illuministi, sono alessandrini e tirano a campare, con grandi migrazioni sulla terra.
L´isola selvaggia lo ha accolto con sonnolenza e disinvoltura, svuotata dagli uomini e soverchiata.
Oggi, Mediterranea, espone il prodotto di questa frattura che è Jacques Basler, materia e razionalità. Una bella sfida in terra di Sicilia; intellettuale critico e anticonformista.
Creazionismo o evoluzionismo? Jacques affronta i problemi fondamentali dell´esistenza dell´uomo in maniera forte e decisa, lo dice chiaramente, senza alcun dubbio: "Il giorno in cui scoppia la terra, nessuno se ne accorge". Ama la materia.
L´uomo è materia, la sua appartenenza al mondo della natura è evidentissima nelle sue opere, splendide, le sue metamorfosi con la trasformazione della natura in fattore umano.
L´umanità tenta disperatamente di imprigionare la natura entro schemi precisi ma non vi riesce. L´arroganza umana è messa in ogni momento sotto scacco; il sistema rischia di andare in malora a causa di un distorto modello di sviluppo. Siamo un unico elemento vivente.
Questa centralità della materia è assolutamente preminente nell´opera di Jacques Basler. L´uomo è materia che si trasforma, la sua implicazione naturale è vincente rispetto al trascendentale sia quando affronta temi cari alla cultura contemporanea sia quando tenta di coercire gli elementi naturali. Bellissimi i contrasti all´interno dell´opera di Jacques Basler, acciaio e legno, superfici morbide e superfici dure, forza e dolcezza, pietra e ferro, calor bianco e superfici levigate, dentro e fuori.
Centralità dell´uomo, immanenza, forza della natura, grande creatività. Viviamo positivamente la nostra condizione umana, il nostro è un attimo di esistenza nel tempo-spazio dell´universo.

Basler has come to Sicily and lives near the volcano that continues to move cause to the earthquakes.
Filicudi and Stromboli, a big and huge mass of energy that contaminates everything. He has been working in a magic place for over 20 years, in a land of Tories who continues to be fascinated by the trascendental and the myth; they are mediterranean and believe in fate, they are not materialistic and neither follower of the Enlightment but rather Alexandrine, trying to survive through big migration all over the world.
The wild island hosted him with drowsiness and self-assurance.
Today, Mediterranea is exhibiting the product of this breaking embodied by Jacques Basler, matter and rationality. A big challenge in Sicily for a critical and anticonformist intellectual.
Creationism or evolutionism? Jacques deals with the main problems of human existence in a strong and resolute way; he clearly says with no doubt: "when the world will explode, no one would realize it".
He loves matter. Man is matter and his belonging to the world of nature is clearly represented by his works, beautiful are his metamorphosis with the transformation of nature into human elements.
Humanity desperately tries to lock nature into precise schemes but it´s a failure.
Human arrogance suffers everyday a setback; the state system risks to collapse for a wrong developing model. We are a whole living element.
This centrality of matter is absolutely prominent in the works of Jacques Basler. Man represents matter in transformation, his natural involvement results winning in spite of the trascendental both when he faces themes appreciated by the contemporary culture and when he tries to enclose natural elements. Very beautiful contrasts appear inside Jacques Basler´s works, steel and wood, soft and hard surfaces, strength and sweetness, stone and iron, melting heat and smooth surface, in and out.
The centrality of man, immanence, nature´s strength and huge creativity. We live our human condition in a positive way, we are nothing but a moment of existence in the time and space of the universe.
