14 racconti come dice Gillo Dorfles una re-interpretazione del mondo in chiave introspettiva, magica, allusiva, misterica. Soltanto un futuro assestamento nei mezzi di comunicazione (internet, banda larga, satellitare etc), nelle strutture economico-sociali (crisi del capitalismo e del pensiero unico neo liberistico, nuove scoperte scientifiche, antimateria, dna etc) della nostra civiltà,potrà permettere una evoluzione culturale libera dal consumismo e dalle ingerenze economiche e politiche che oggi irretiscono l´arte.
Lontano dalla mercificazione dobbiamo lottare contro il credo estetico imposto dall´alto ben lontano dalle esigenze del singolo e dalle masse.
L´ISOLA una immagine utopica che auspica l´avvento di una società che permetterebbe di vedere fiorire opere ad un tempo esteticamente pregnanti e universalmente accettabili. Verso un neo-umanesimo del terzo millennio. Salvo Russo come dice Anna Maria Schmidt accetta la sfida e la sua pittura sottende una vasta cultura eclettica, piena di conoscenza di secoli di arte, romantico,esoterico, surreale,metafisico,la sua ricerca č nutrita delle pagine più significative della storia dell´arte europea.
Il suo substrato culturale dà visioni oniriche cariche di simboli, dove le tante citazioni si compongono e scompongono intrecciandosi in un gioco che lo rende difficilmente riconoscibile. Un nuovo linguaggio che coniuga sapere, scienza, storia. Nulla di trascendentale, tutto immanente ed eterno come la materia dell´universo.
14 quadri,14 racconti nel flusso della storia dell´uomo. L´uso della luce avvolge la narrazione con dorati riflessi del tramonto incombente, creando ombre alternate a sprazzi di luce.
L´ISOLA ricorda Salvatore Quasimodo, i grandi classici, Eugenio Montale, la mediterranietà, tutto si trasforma in nuove realtà sempre alla ricerca di una nuova identità che è l´intrecciarsi dei vari vissuti precedenti, una narrazione leggendaria, nuovo Omero del nuovo secolo.
La costruzione di un nuovo universo a centralità umana, lotta continua.

Fourteen tales, as Gillo Dorfles says, are a re-interpretation of the world in an introspective, magic, allusive and mysterious key. Only a future arrangement in the means of communication (internet, wide band, satellites), in the socio-economic structures (crisis in capitalization and the neo-liberalistic thought, new scientific discoveries, anti-matter, DNA etc.), of our civilization will allow a cultural evolution free from the consumer society and from the economic and political interference that trap art today.
Far from commercialization, we must struggle against the aesthetic credo imposed from above that is far from the needs of the individual and of the masses.
The Island, a Utopian image that hopes for the coming of a society that will allow us to see the flourishing of words that are both aesthetically valid and universally acceptable. Towards a neo-humanism of the third millenium.
As Anna Maria Schmidt says, Salvo Russo accepts the challenge and his painting implies a vast, eclectic culture, full of the knowledge of centuries of romantic, esoteric, surrealistic and metaphysical art. His research is supported by the most meaningful pages of the history of European art.
The cultural substrate provides oneiric visions full of symbols in which the various elements come together and fall apart, entertwining in a movement that makes it difficult to recognize. A new language that links knowledge, science and history. Nothing transcendental, everything immanent and eternal as the matter of the Universe.
Fourteen paintings, fourteen tales in the flux of human history. The use of light envelops the narration with the golden reflections of the approaching sunset, creating alternating shade and rays of light.
The Island recalls Salvatore Quasimodo, the great classics, Eugenio Montale, the Mediterranean atmosphere, everything being transformed into a new reality always in search of a new identity that becomes confused with the various preceding experiences, a legendary narration, the new Homer of the new century. The construction of a new universe centred on humanity, the struggle continues.
